Virtual Macquarie Island
A brief preview of a project I’ve been working on in my spare time, on and off – a high-resolution simulation of Macquarie Island. After a while living in Unity, it’s finally coming to life in Unreal Engine.
This is a very rough first (well, 12th+) – draft, where I’m getting to grips with 8k texture streaming, Unreal’s blueprint and terrain modelling functions and rendering. It’s a complete game-changer, and blows open the doors to things I’ve wanted to do for years.
Obviously, there’s lots yet to be done, and a heap of stuff is in the pipeline that I’ll reveal in the near future.
